The easiest way to the accommodation on the campus is via city train. If you arrive by a long-distance train, either take the S1 (to Herrenberg), S2 (to Filderstadt) or S3 (to Flughafen/Messe) and exit at “Universität“. Now just folllow the signs to the Stuttgart Media University and the accommondation.
In case you arrive by plane, either take the S1 (to Kirchheim (Teck)), the S2 (to Schorndorf) or the S3 (to Backnang). Also exit here at “Universität” and follow the sign.
Stuttgart is known as a university city and therefore has a variety of student residences.
The International Office helps to organise accommodation for you. We cooperate with the Studentenwerk Stuttgart that owns and maintains several students` hostels in Stuttgart, many of them are situated near the campus or on the campus itself.
The room’s cost depends on the size of the endowments. Prices lie within a range of € 200 and € 400 per month, including heating, water and electricity.
Take into account that you have to pay an entire month’s rent even if you don’t stay as long. In addition to that you should consider that you have to pay a month rent as bail money. You will get this money back when you move out.
All rooms are ready-furnished but they have no bedding.
Internet access to the university’s network in your room you can get for a monthly fee of €10 and a one-time registration fee of €18. More information on this you’ll get when you arrive in Stuttgart.
We recommend to book a room at a relevant time before your arrival in Stuttgart, preferably in the Stuttgart-Vaihingen residence, which is located just a few minutes walk from the university.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to consider specific requests for accommodations, unless under exceptional circumstances.
Visit the residence’s website for first impressions.
